This is the result of close cooperation between the Authority of Information Security (AIS) and Google in verifying the legitimacy of applications that provide essential services such as public services and personal identification for Vietnamese citizens. The goal is to ensure that these applications officially represent state agencies in Vietnam.
AIS has collaborated to verify and encourage state agencies to register their applications for certification to expand the list of trusted government applications for users. When users access Google Play, official government applications will display the “Government” badge, providing assurance of the app’s authenticity. This is especially important in Vietnam, where the demand for government services and the number of government applications on the platform are rapidly increasing.
Mr. Trần Quang Hưng, Acting Director General of the Authority of Information Security, shared: “The government application recognition feature on Google Play is an important step in supporting Vietnamese citizens to access reliable government applications. This not only helps people easily identify and use official public services but also contributes to raising awareness and trust in the State’s digital services. We acknowledge Google’s cooperation in bringing this initiative to life.”
Mr. Wilson White, Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Asia-Pacific at Google, stated: “At Google Play, we are always striving to ensure that users have a smooth, reliable, and safe experience. We continuously add new features to help users easily find the applications they need, and our latest effort is the introduction of the government application recognition badge. Today, government applications provide a wide range of essential services, and we want to ensure that you can easily find the right services you need. We sincerely thank the Vietnamese government agencies and developers for working with us to implement this feature, and we are excited to continue this meaningful work.”
The Authority of Information Security is committed to continuing its cooperation with Google and relevant agencies in certifying government applications to enhance user safety in the digital space. Currently, more than 80 government applications in Vietnam have been certified with the official government application badge, with the list published on the National Digital Trust Platform (tinnhiemmang.vn), including VNeID, VssID, i-SPEED by VNNIC, TCT Electronic Invoices, and the Ministry of Health Public Services.
